I'm a multidisciplinary designer and UX researcher conducting mixed methods research, using qualitative and quantitative data to inform user-centered experiences. My research focuses on designing interactions for behavior change; understanding audiences in digital and physical environments; and the role of experience on cognition and meaning-making.

 

Previously, I worked as an interactive art director and graphic designer in advertising and for non-profits, and have experience in teaching college-level design courses.

My interest in research before starting a project, during and after its completion led me to shift my focus to asking questions, collecting data, and prototyping to develop guidelines that inform design. The following research projects involved designing surveys; conducting interviews; participant observations for behavior mapping; using think-aloud data to understand individual experiences; and log-in and usage data to understand the overall interaction.

For eight semesters I had the opportunity to teach undergraduate design courses during which students investigated relationships among settings, people, and objects; learned about and practiced various design research methods; worked on identifying problems to develop UI/UX design solutions and prototypes; gained necessary software and programming skills to convey their research results and design solutions; and worked individually and in teams. The following design projects were produced and the necessary research were conducted by second year students.

Prior to pursuing a PhD in design research, I worked as an interactive art director and graphic designer, designing for online and print. The following works include some of the websites I worked on ranging from online branding to e-commerce and social networking; online games; and print works such as  identity designs, catalogs, and retail posters and signages.
